Last night, The Trumpster should have kicked himself into The Dumpster and forever shut the lid! I mean Donald Trump should have thrown in the towel and resigned as the Republican nominee for U.S. president, the greatest and most difficult job in the secular world. But no! The Donald doesn’t have QUIT in his DNA. He warns that he’s coming loaded for bear tomorrow night in the second of three scheduled television debates to be aired live between him and Hilary Clinton, the Democratic nominee for president. He said so last night in his video-taped confession, or that’s what the Trumpet campaign said it was. America deserves better.
The confession happened because, as I posted yesterday, The Washington Post released a 2005 video clip in which Donald Trump spoke with vulgar language to Billy Bush in a sexually explicit and joking manner about Trump’s well-known philandering. Amazingly, Donald Trump had just married his third and present wife, Melania, two months prior, she was probably pregnant with their child Baron, and here is The Donald bragging to this man about groping women and trying to commit adultery with a named woman. It happened as the two men were traveling in a bus that was pulling up to the television set of the soap opera “Days of our Lives.” Trump was about to make a cameo appearance on this show. The taping was done by “Access Hollywood,” which Bush hosted.
After the televising of this clip, Access Hollywood claimed it had dozens of such clips of Donald Trump. Are we going to see more of the same on TV in the next thirty days about this narcissistic bag of wind? America deserves better.
The clip proved very damaging to Donald Trump’s political campaign for the White House, which election thereof is only one month away. Some Republican members of Congress were bolting for the aisles, disavowing their previous support for Donald Trump as president. This is political crisis like Americans have never seen before. America deserves better.
Donald Trump began his so-called “confession” by saying, “I never said I was perfect.” It was a confession all right, but it was pretty half-hearted. There was no remorse in it. He stated things quickly with a stern look as matters of fact. He admitted doing things in his life that he now regrets. He even added, “I apologize.” He claimed he is a better man now. Thus, he said of the clip, “That’s not me,” meaning he has changed for the better. He promised to do better for America as its president. Okay. Should we hope so? At least Donald Trump made his first public apology ever. He seems to have changed his life precept, “No Regrets!”
But that was only the beginning of the taped “confession.” Donald Trump then quickly changed the subject and launched into his political campaign rhetoric about how America is falling apart and that he is the only one who can Make America Great Again. “We’re losing jobs,” he thundered with his slogan. He alleged that Hilary Clinton, President Barak Obama, and their ilk are not stopping this hemorrhaging of U.S. jobs going to Mexico and China, and he is the only one who can stop it.
Is this really happening? Yes indeed. And we may see a preview of scheduled Round Two by Alex Baldwin and Kate McKinnon in just a few hours on Saturday Night Live. They nailed what I call Preview Round One last Saturday as Baldwin impersonated Trump and McKinnon played Clinton. It was so hilarious.
After the Baldwin-McKinnon parody was aired on TV, Hilary Clinton was asked what she thought of it. She said Baldwin was “perfect. I can’t wait to see what else they’re going to do. His look, his scowling, his staring down then muttering his response, he was perfect.”
Clinton then said of this SNL season premier, “I’ll tell you when Kate McKinnon came out with the walker [on stage to join Baldwin], I thought I was going to fall off my chair. She makes me laugh anyway, she is so funny just naturally.” Will there be more of this tonight in at SNL? Stay tuned.
But doesn’t Access Hollywood’s audio-video change this political saga? This latest development is making things not so funny. Instead of laughing, maybe we Americans should be crying, repenting in sackcloth and ashes. Still, I think America deserves more.
Fellow Americans, we’ve never seen political mud-slinging like we’re going to see tomorrow night. The Donald made this crystal clear in his confession last night. He said Hilary’s husband Bill “has spoken worse to me on the golf course.” Donald Trump meant that Bill Clinton, our U.S. president from 1993 to 2001, has sexually objectified women with vulgar language even more when the two men have played golf together. And The Donald forewarned that tomorrow night in Round Two, he is going to say more about Bill’s adulterous escapades that we already know about and perhaps more.
Yet, The Donald is not in this fight against Bill, but against Hilary. Indeed, and Trump alerted us to this fact in his confession. At its end he divulged that he is going to take down the former First Lady with some quick left jabs and powerful right hands full of accusations about her having threatened and victimized Bill’s other women–Jennifer Flowers, Monica Lewinsky, and perhaps more. Donald has already repeatedly accused Hilary of “enabling” husband Bill in his womanizing. Now he threatens more of it.
Today, the editor of The Huffington Post says, “Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who had repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims–1.6 billion members of an entire religion–from entering the U.S.”
Such a man should have had the moral aptitude to realize that instead of him being able to Make America Great Again, he likely would Make America Degraded Again. Folks, America deserves better than Donald Trump for its president.
