My Second Patent

My Second Patent 2018-11-14T23:28:25-07:00

TriangleBookLogoLargeWhiteOnBlackThe U.S. Patent and Trademark Office recently granted me my second patent for “a self-supporting book.” My trademark that I own for it is “A Triangle Book.” I had a website of that name, took it offline, and will now put it back online soon. But it’s purpose is mostly just to inform the book publishing industry, not the public. However, you can learn from it what I’m trying to do.

This is my second patent for “a self-supporting book.” I got my first one about four years ago. But that embodiment of my invention was not very commercial. That is, I couldn’t get publishers and printers (book manufacturers) interested in it to license it to them. That’s what I’m trying to do with this invention–non-exclusive licensing. In fact, with this type of invention, that’s the only thing you can do with it unless you want to sell the invention itself in a one sale deal. No, not interested in that.

I call it a Triangle Book because it props into a triangle formation. What are its benefits? No more having to “hold ’em and fold ’em,” as Kenny Rogers sings. That is, you don’t have to hold the book, press its pages due to a tight spine, or keeps the book open by holding its pages. It has mechanical binding, preferably Wire-O or spiral. It provides flat pages. Whereas, you read slightly curved pages in a traditional book. The business community likes Wire-O binding. It is a little more expensive to make books like that. But it has advantages. My motto is “revolutionizing the reading experience.”

Now I’ve got to get back to work and try to license it. I had gotten so discouraged with trying to get this embodiment patented that I had given up on it. After laying it aside for two years, I made a last ditch effort that worked. Now I’m energized

Due to this development, I will be reducing how much I post on my blog for at least the remained of this year. And I’m going to lay aside posting much about President Trump for a while. I wish him well; but so far, his tenure as president doesn’t look good to me. Maybe he will get a good overhaul of our tax laws and thereby energize our economy without going deeper into debt, a hefty task.
