The present Gaza war started in October 2023 because Hamas—the Muslim terrorist organization that governs the Gaza Strip—foolishly attacked the western flank of Israel on October 7 that year, killing about 1,200 Jews. The Israel Defense Force then invaded Gaza to wage a war in an effort to root out Hamas which was dug into an intricate system of tunnels. The result has been that the IDF has now killed over 53,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Most of them have been civilians that include so many women and children. And despite the overwhelming opposition of most of the world to Israel’s continuing bombardment of Gaza and thus this indiscriminate killing, Israel refuses to let up, even refusing to allow food and medicine aid to a starving Palestinian population that has pretty much nowhere to run for safety.
There is a serious political matter in Israel that is fueling this Gaza war that many outsiders claim is a genocide committed against the Palestinian people. It is that Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is accused by Israel’s courts of corruption dating back many years. And many political and judicial experts in Israel expect that if Netanyahu were to lose his political position, he would be convicted in court and sentenced to prison. So, it is reasoned that Netanyahu is doing everything he can politically and militarily to stay out of prison.
Some Israeli Leaders Say “Wipe Out” Palestinians in Gaza
For example, in the last election Netanyahu succumbed to forming a governing coalition that included very far-right political parties and their politicians to stay in power. As a result, Netanyahu has as his finance minister Bezalel Smotrich, a radical Orthodox Jews who lives in the West Bank with his wife and seven children. He keeps calling for Israel to completely “wipe out” all Palestinians from Gaza and Israel settle the entire place with Jews. And Smotrich is not alone in the Netanyahu government who is of this mindset.
U.S. President Donald Trump has been calling for a similar result, to transfer all Palestinians out of the Gaza Strip. His administration supposedly is working on settling them in Libya. That seems ridiculous since Libya is so poor and has fallen backwards in recent years. Trump the real estate mogul and contractor then wants to let the U.S. turn the totally destroyed Gaza Strip into “the Riviera of the Mideast.” What a joke! If Trump tried to do that, World War III would start in the Middle East due to so many Muslims rising up in protest. Muslims advocate for Palestinians to have their own state where they live—in the Gaza Strip and West Bank.
UK, France, and Canada Call for Israel to End the Gaza War
While Trump dithers around, refusing to condemn Israel’s atrocity in Gaza just as his predecessor President Biden did, Britain, France, and Canada have now stepped up to the plate to perhaps get a home run. They announced that Israel’s disproportionate killing of Palestinians in Gaza is most “intolerable” and threatened a “concrete” response if Israel’s campaign continues. Bezalel Smotrich then replied that Israel’s army will “wipe out” what remains of all Palestinians in Gaza. Even President Trump admitted this weekend people are dying of starvation in Gaza.
The three nations had announced yesterday, “We will not stand by while the Netanyahu government pursues these egregious actions. If Israel does not cease the renewed military offensive and life its restrictions on humanitarian aid, we will take further concrete actions in response.”
Palestinians Deserve Their Own State Just as Jews Do
For modern Israel’s entire existence, thus since 1948, it has refused to do as Torah says regarding its neighbors the Palestinians. Torah declares, which Jesus quoted, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Leviticus 19.18; Mark 12.31). Jesus even went beyond that by saying, “Love your enemies” (Matthew 5.44). Thus, if Jews think they should have their own state, according to Torah they should advocate the same for Palestinians. But modern Israel throughout its existence has mostly been against Palestinians having their own state. I maintain that if Israeli Jews would have been of this mindset, which some always have been, Palestinians likely would not hate Israeli Jews.
There Will Be a Palestinian State. It’s in the Bible
The argument put forth against my assertion by many Israeli Jews and Christian Zionists in our U.S. nation is that that would be suicide for Israel. I insist it would not. Moreover, I claim in my book, Palestine Is Coming: The Revival of Ancient Philistia (1990), that there will be a Palestinian state in the future and that it will be located alongside Israel side-by-side as 3,000 years ago. Palestinians derive their name from the ancient Philistines, and their nation of Philistia was in the coastal plain as a very expanded Gaza Strip. That’s what I think is going to happen again based on my interpretations of some end times prophetic texts in the Bible, starting with Isaiah 11.14.
If Israel would agree right now to the creation of a Palestinian state based on a land swap, in which Israel would forfeit the entire coastal plain to Palestinians in exchange for annexing all of the West Bank, with an accompanying transfer of peoples, I believe Hamas would immediately agree to lay down arms. But loud, far-right voices in Israel, like that of Smotrich, would yell against it by claiming that would give Hamas victory for having attacked Israel. But I’m saying to forget current circumstances because Israel should have agreed to this over 75 years ago, when the UN tried to pretty do this very thing with its UN Partition Plan.
Conclusion
So, how much longer will the rest of the world put up with Israel preventing the creation of a Palestinian state in the Levant? Maybe the UK, France, and Canada will get other nations to join it in stepping up to the plate to force a home run. But as long as Donald Trump is president, I doubt the U.S. will join that team which will be a sad legacy for our country.
