Trump’s Bluster about Canada as U.S. State

Soon after Donald Trump won last year’s presidential election in early November, he soon began trumpeting that Canada should become the 51st state of the U.S. When he first said it, in December to Canada’s Prime Minister, Mr. Justin Trudeau thought Trump was joking. But he soon realized he wasn’t when Trump turned up the rhetoric that included threats that Canada would indeed become the 51st state of the U.S.

President Trump in recent weeks has even said most brazenly that one of his purposes in putting the huge tariffs on Canadian trade to the U.S. would be to cause an economic recession in Canada and thus force the nation to become its neighbor’s 51st state. That is not exactly doing what Jesus taught—”love your neighbor as yourself.”

Donald Trump likes to boast about being such a great deal maker, citing his book, The Art of the Deal. The book that The Donald should write is the opposite of Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People, with its title being How to Lose Friends and Perhaps Start a World Recession, If Not a War.

Trump’s Bluster Did the Opposite

Just ask Canadians who voted for the Liberal Party’s Mark Carney today to become their Prime Minister. Pollsters say this election was mostly about Trump due to his recent claim to make Canada our 51st state. Their polls showed that in January, the Conservative Party had a whopping lead of 20%. Does that ever show how Canadians hated Trump so bad that they demonstrated it at the ballot box today! And to think that the U.S.-Canada neighborly relationship has for all these generations been the envy of the world. In only a few weeks, Trump showed us the art of how to lose good friends, and it may go further than that with his tariffs.

Trump kept on saying it, even early today writing it on his Truth Social, the very day of Canada’s vote. That must certainly be regarded as meddling in a foreign election, which is against U.S. protocol if now our laws. I have been blogging about this subject multiple times. Trump Is Fighting Against the God Who Made the Nations

President Donald Trump has not only been fighting against Canada in demanding it become the 51st U.S. state; by doing this he has been fighting against the Judeo-Christian God. For, the Bible declares about God concerning “all nations that he has made,” that “when the Most High apportioned the nations, when he divided humankind, he fixed the boundaries of the peoples” (Deuteronomy 26.19; 32.8 NRSV). And the apostle Paul says of God, “From one ancestor he made all nations to inhabit the whole earth, and he allotted the times of their existence and the boundaries of the places where they would live” (Acts 17.26). And lest someone thinks the nations will be abolished in the world-to-come, Israel’s King David as a psalmist says to God concerning that yet future world, “All the nations you have made shall come and bow down before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name” (Psalm 86.9).

Thus, Americans and Canadians will gather together and praise God in the blessed kingdom, and there surely will be a border between the two countries. Finaly, I think this will show that Donald Trump’s bluster about forcing Canada to become part of the United States of America will come to naught. What do you think?
