“Mexico Will Pay For It”
When Donald Trump was elected to a second term as U.S. president last November, he then said he would “not start wars but stop them.” For instance, he had been campaigning that if elected president he would end the Russian war in Ukraine on the first day of his presidency. There isn’t even sniff in the air of that war coming to an end. Trump had said Russian President Vladimir Putin wanted to make a deal to end the war. That to me was a bunch mafia talk. Putin only wanted to end the war by Ukraine forfeiting all the Ukrainian land that Russia was, and still is, occupying.
That reminded me of the main plank Trump’s political platform when he campaigned for the presidency the first time, in 2016. He had said that he would solve the U.S. illegal immigration problem on the U.S.-Mexico border by building a 2,000-mile long wall, “and Mexico will pay for it.” Anyone who believed that Mexico would pay for it needed their head examined! Yet Trump got elected with such poppycock!
When Donald Trump was asked how Mexico would be made to pay for the wall, he would never say. That’s another part of Trump’s personna—to make outlandish statements and never back them up with necessary details. As Trump’s friends say of him, he’s not a detail guy. Right, he talks like the mafia—”just believe what I say.’ As he told Billy Bush, “Billy, you just keep telling people what to believe, and they will believe it.” Right, Trump views people like dumb sheep.
The Trump Bible
Trump’s constant braggadocio includes predicting all kinds of things that he would do in the future even though it is extremely unlikely that he will be able to do them. Of course, that is the style of some politicians who get elected to office. And many people who should know better get their hopes up that it will happen.
Trump is now bragging about God being on his side even though he has never claimed to be a righteous man. In fact, he has lived a life far from it. And as is often the case with this greedy guy, it can involve making money. For example, Donald Trump now makes money selling Bibles. On October 18, 2021, while Trump was near the end of his presidency, a Bible was released that was called “God Bless the USA” Bible, but it was often referred to colloquially as “the Trump Bible.” A week ago, Donald Trump had to file a personal financial statement that said he had profited $1.3 million in only eight months on his Trump Bible. Here is what this Bible says on its front cover:

Did God Save Trump from the Assassin’s Bullet?
That was the day Trump was delivering a speech at an outdoor political rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when a 20-year old man tried to assassinate him by shooting eight bullets at him with a semi-automatic, AR-15, assault rifle. Just as Trump turned his head nearly ninety degrees to the right, at that moment a bullet grazed his ear, causing severed bleeding. He was pushed to the platform floor by security agents to protect him.
If Trump had not turned his head in that moment, the bullet would have struck his skull and he likely would have been instantly killed. Trump and his MAGA crowd—which includes millions of evangelical Christians who helped him get elected months later—began saying it was miracle that Trump turned his head right then and that God had caused him to do that. But they didn’t say anything about one of those bullets striking a family man in the crowd and it instantly killing him. Why did God protect Trump and not that guy?
Mike Huckabee is a huge Trump supporter, former Baptist pastor and Arkansas governor, and now Trump’s selection as ambassador to Israel which is conducting a slaughter of Palestinians in its war in the Gaza Strip. Today, Trump shared a series of social media posts on his Truth Social platform including one by Huckabee. It read, “Mr. President, God spared you in Butler, PA to be the most consequential President in a century—maybe ever. … You have many voices speaking to you Sir, but there is only ONE voice that matters. HIS voice. … I believe you will hear from heaven and that voice is far more important than mine or ANYONE else’s.”The “Republicans Against Trump” account on X said of Huckabee’s remarks, “This is freaking weird.”
Trump had attended the G-7 meeting in Canada this weekend even though he has been angering and thus alienating Canadians and their leadership by saying he will unilaterally make Canada “the 51st state” of the U.S., thus insinuating that it may happen due to force. He then exited the meeting abruptly to return to the U.S. because Israel attacked Iran last week, and it could develop into a serious war.
Yesterday, Iran’s leaders published remarks asking President Trump to make Israel stop bombing Iran. I thought that was quite conciliatory. Today, Trump threatened Iran by saying on Truth Social he demands of Iran “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!” That is despite the fact that Israel started this skirmish by shooting missiles and destroying over a hundred targets for the purpose of destroying Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Trump bragged, “We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran.” He didn’t say who “we” is. The Iran hatred for Israel is almost entirely about Israel’s ill-treatment of Palestinians, thus being against them having their own state.
