The current Israel-Gaza War reveals the necessity of a continuing peace process with the goal of the establishment of a Palestinian state. There is no other way this 70-year old Israeli-Palestinian conflict will ever reach any conceivable goal of being resolved. There must be two states lying side-by-side. And as I have been saying for over forty years, the traditional two-state solution has always been a non-starter. Just look at it. This traditional proposal has existed for so many decades... Read more

China responded to a US delegation of six, bipartisan senators visiting China and led by Chuck Schumer concerning the recent war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip by saying of it, “China is a common friend of Israel and Palestine.” Spokesperson Mao Ning continued, “We sincerely hope to see Palestine and Israel co-existing peacefully and sharing security and development.” He means there needs to be two states as a solution to this conflict. This is the right approach... Read more

As an attendee, I now continue my reporting of another presentation of the virtual conference held two weeks ago called “New Insights into the New Testament.” It was hosted by bestselling author, New Testament scholar, and historian of early Christianity Dr. Bart Ehrman. The following account is about Dr. Amy-Jill Levine’s presentation, “Jesus and Women: Distinguishing History from Apologetic.” She is a recognized authority on this subject. In 2019, Dr. Levine had the honor of becoming the first Jew to teach... Read more

It may seem like “old hat,” but Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip are at war again. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared “war” today on Hamas. It is the religious-political organization that governs the tiny, heavily populated Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip. the reason was that the militantly Islamic Hamas unexpectedly attacked nearby portions of the State of Israel with thousands of rockets beginning early this morning. The New York Times reports that about 250 Israeli Jewish... Read more

Dr. James Tabor is professor of Ancient Judaism and Early Christianity at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. James and I have been friends for about forty years. We met in metro-Houston where I lived for forty years. He used to live in Texas. He reviewed my book, The Restitution: Biblical Proof Jesus Is NOT God, on August 15, 2023. This republished book is 570 pages, and it cites over 400 scholars. It has a title change, but the... Read more

Now I resume blogging about my attendance a few days ago of the virtual conference entitled “New Insights into the New Testament” (NINT), hosted by Dr. Bart Ehrman. As this title suggests, the scholars who presented in it were revealing new insights about the New Testament that they have discovered themselves or insights that are largely known to some scholars but not to most readers of the New Testament. This was the first such conference, and I think they expect... Read more

Researchers are turning up more and more evidence to support the allegation that the British monarchy was involved in the colonial slave trade more than formerly thought. This new evidence may impact future accountability to the descendants of African slaves in the form of monetary reparations in several parts of the world, including the USA. King James II (1633-1701)–the King of England and grandson of King James I who commissioned the famous King James Version of the Bible (KJV)–directly oversaw... Read more

Europe just won the Ryder Cup by absolutely trouncing the USA. The final score apparently will be 16 to 11. The US got off to such a miserable start in these biennial and historic, three-day matches. By the second day, yesterday in early afternoon, the score was Europe 8.5 points to USA 1.5 points. So, the Americans had dug themselves such a big hole from which it was nigh impossible to extricate themselves. European golf fans used to be polite... Read more

After two days of the Ryder Cup, with tomorrow’s final round to go, the score stands at Europe 10.5 points and the US at 5.5 points. So, the US must have a massive surge tomorrow to win this premier sporting event in what would be its first US win on European turf in the past thirty years. It didn’t used to be this way. The US used to own the Ryder Cup, plain and simple. But that was before the... Read more

This weekend, I’m attending a virtual conference called New Insights into the New Testament. It is hosted by Dr. Bart Ehrman, bestselling author and professor of religious studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. The conference consists of ten professors presenting hour-long speeches about new insights into the Bible’s New Testament (NT). I watched two presenters today: Dr. Mark Goodacre and Dr. Dale Allison. Tomorrow, I intend to watch Dr. James Tabor and Dr. Amy-Jill Levine. I know... Read more
