Translation, 1 Kings 15:1-16:7 January 26, 2005

Now in the 18th year to king Yarav?am, son of Nebat

Reigned-as-king ?Aviyyam over Yehudah.
Three years he reigned-as-king in Yerushalaim
Now the name of his mother [was] Ma?akah daughter of Aviyshalom.
And he walked in all the sins of his father which he did before him.
But his heart was not complete with Yahweh his God as the heart of David his father.
For on account of David gave Yahweh his go to him a lamp in Yerushalaim
To cause to rise his son after him
And to cause to stand Yerushalaim.
Which did David right in the eyes of Yahweh
And did not turned from all which He commanded him all the days of his life.
Only in the thing of ?Uriyyah the Chittiy.
Now war was between Rechav?am and between Yarav?am all the days of his life.
Not the remnant of the acts/words of ?Aviyyam and all which he did,
Are they not writings in the book of the things/deeds of the days to the kings of Yehudah.
Now war was between ?Aviyyam and between Yarav?am.
And slept ?Aviyyam with his fathers.
And they buried him in the city of David.
And reigned-as-king Asa his son in his place.

And in the 20th year to Yarav?am king of Yisra?el,
Reigned-as-king Asa king of Yehudah.
Now forty and one years he reigned-as-king in Yerushalaim
Now the name of his mother [was] Ma?akah, daughter of Aviyshalom.
And did Asa right in the eyes of Yahweh as David his father.
And he caused to pass over the consecrated-ones from the land
And he turned aside s***ty-idols which his father made.
And also Ma?akah his mother, and he turned her aside from [being] Great Lady
Who made a horror-image for Asherah
And Asa cut down her horror-image and burned in the Wadi Qidron.
But the high places he did not turn awide.
Only the heart of Asa was complete with Yahweh all his days.
And he caused-to-enter the holy-things of his father
And his holy-things [to] the house of Yahweh, silver and gold and utensils.
Now war was between Asa and between Ba?asha?Eking of Yisrael all their days.
And ascended Ba?asha?Eking of Yisrael unto Yehudah
And he built the Ramah so as to disallow exiting and entering to Asa king of Yehudah.
And took Asa all the silver and the gold
which remained in the treasuries of the house of Yahweh
and in the treasures of the house of the king.
And he gave them into the hand of his servant
And he sent, the king Asa, to Son-of-Hadad,
son of Tavrimmon son of Hezyon, king of Aram,
who sat-enthroned in Dammeseq, saying,
?A covenant between me and between you
Between my father and betweem your father.
Behold, I sent to you a gift of silver and gold.
Walk/go break your covenant with Ba?sha?Eking of Yisrael
And he will ascend from on me.?E
And herd Son-of-Hadad to the king Asa
And he sent the chiefs of his strength which [was] with him
Against the cities of Yisrael
And smote ?Iyyon and Dan and ?Avel, the House of Ma?akah
And all the Kinroth on all the land of Naftaliy.
And it was according to the hearing of Ba?asha?E
And he stopped from building the Ramah
And he dwelt in Tirzah.
Now the king Asa caused to hear all Yehudah
(there was not [any] exempt)
And they carried the stones of the Ramah her trees which Ba?asha?Ebuilt
And he built with them, the King Asa, Geva?EBinyamin and the Mitzpah.
Now the remnant of all the things/words of Asa
and all his manly-might and all which he did and the cities which he built
are they not writings on the books of the things/deeds of the days of the kings of Yehudah.
Only to the time of his age he was sick [in] his feet.
And Asa slept with his fathers
And he was buried with his fathers in the city ofDavid his father
And reigned-as-king Yehoshapat his son in his place.

Now Nadab son of Yarav?am reigned-as-king over Yisrael
in the second year to Asa king of Yehudah
And he reigned-as-king over Yisrael double-years.
And he did evil in the eyes of Yahweh
And walked in the way of his father
And in his sinning which he caused Yisrael to sin.
And bound-together against him Ba?asha?Eson of Achiyyah
To the house of Yissaschar
And struck him Ba?asha?Ein Gibbethon which [is] to the Pelishtiym.
Now Nadab and all Yisrael were hemming-in against Gibbethon.
And Ba?asha?Ecause him to die in the third year to Asa king of Yehudah
And he reigned-as-king in his place.
And it was according to his being-king, he struck all the house of Yarav?am
He did not allow-to-remain any breath to Yarav?am until his exterminating.
According to the word of Yahweh which he spoke
by the hand of his servant Achiyyah the Shiyloniy.
Upon the sins of Yarav?am which he sinned,
And which he caused Israel to sin in his provoking-anger
Which he provoked-anger of Yahweh the God of Yisrael.
Now the remnant of the words/things of Nadab and al which he did
Are they not writings in the books of the words/things of the days of the kings of Yisrael.
Now war was between Asa and between Ba?asha?Eking of Yisrael all their days.

In the third year to Asa king of Yehudah
Reigned-as-king Ba?asha?Eson of Achiyyah over all Yisrael in Tirzah twenty-four years.
And he did evil in the eyes of Yahweh
And he walked in the way of Yarav?am an in his sins which he caused Yisrael to sin.
And it was the word of Yahweh to Yehu?Eson of Chananiy against Ba?asha?E saying,
?Because of which I caused you to rise from the dusk
And I gave you as the announced-one over My people Yisrael
And you walk in the way of Yarav?am
And you cause to sin My people Yisrael
To provoke me to anger with their sins
Behold, burning after Ba?asha?Eand after his house
And I will give your house as the house of Yarav?am son of Nebat.
The one who dies to Ba?asha?Ein the city, the dogs shall eat
And the one who dies to him in the field, the birds of the heavens shall eat.?E
Now the remnant of the things/deeds of Ba?asha?E
and which he did and his manly-might
Are they not writings in the book of the things/words of the days to the kings of Yisrael.
And slept Ba?asha?Ewith his fathers
And he was buried in Tirzah
And reigned as son Elah his son in his place.
Also by the hand of Yehu?Eson of Chananiy the prophet
Word of Yahweh was to Ba?asha?Eand to his house
And against all the evil which he did in the eyes of Yahweh
To cause-provocation with the doings of his hand
To be according to the house of Yarav?am and on account of which he struck it.
