Finding Purpose in Every Season: Embrace God’s Plan for You

Finding Purpose in Every Season: Embrace God’s Plan for You August 20, 2024

Welcome back to Live Full Die Empty, where we believe in filling our cups with wisdom, not just coffee!
For me the theme of this season has been reflection. I have been looking back at my life experience a lot, more than usual. I have even been watching more shows from previous years as opposed to new ones and I’m noticing things I didn’t see before. Since I was so greatly disappointed by the latest series iteration (House of the Dragon) of what previously had been one of my favorite shows, I had to resort to starting the series all over again. I’m talking about Game of Thrones. It had been a long time since my husband or myself would synchronize our clocks and arrange our schedules to watch anything on TV, but GOT did it for us. Which is why we were so excited about this newly adapted prequel, and man was it a let down. Such is life of media right?

Anyway, I’m enjoying the rewatch of Thrones more than I thought I would and from there comes our quote of the week.

Quote: “Do you know what legacy means? It’s what you pass down to your children and your children’s children. It’s what remains of you when you’re gone.”

When my favorite buzz words come up in TV or movies I get all giddy. In fact, I hit pause and rewind and double-checked the closed captioning several times to seal this message fresh in my heart. Without a doubt, embracing God’s plan for our lives will lead to a lasting legacy. The lessons or instructions He has for us are simple, but not easy. Notnecessarily easy. Especially when we understand that our flesh and our natural mindset fight against the very nature of God.

When looked at logically or academically it is pretty abnormal to give money away, to share resources and share trade secrets, or even to forgive. But depending on the season and depending on the purpose for certain seasons in your life, you may have to do these things. That’s when radical discipline and obedience come in. That’s when you can tell how mature you are in your faith. So what kind of legacy do you want to leave?

That brings me to my gratitude point for the week. I am beyond grateful that the wisdom in the messages that God gives me to share reaches a wide audience. For the most part, my tribe is closer to my age, give or take 10 or 12 years on either side. But it is especially heart warming when my elders, who are well read and well taught, seasoned saints take notice of my ministry. Over the past week several of these stalwarts have given me thumbs up and pats on the back, but when those acknowledgements came from my relatives I cried tears of joy. I’m so grateful to know that I am making them proud simply by doing what God told me to do. That’s the legacy I always wanted to create. And it’s happening.

Some of the past seasons of my life were so painful. And it was due to my stubborn disobedience. I had this idea that I needed to escape my life as it was. The plan that I conjured up was an exit strategy and it was totally out of character for who I know that I am now. It was filled with connections to the wrong people. And literally eating and drinking the wrong things. My surroundings and even my diet was a detriment to me. At the time I did not know how to be a devoted wife and graceful ambassador of the gospel while also a visionary in business. I thought that I had to choose one. But God’s plan for me all along was to thrive in all three.

I did not understand the purpose of my marriage nearly dissolving or my health on a rapid decline. I did not even realize at the time that those circumstances were simply vehicles God used to drive his point home. His point was that He called me to be a mouthpiece. I had to live and experience certain things so that I could tell the tale of victory and give Him all the glory. I had to come out singing the freedom song that would encourage you to stay in the fight of faith and share your story so that others will survive and thrive.

What I know to be true is purpose isn’t only found in big achievements but also in everyday actions—how we serve others, show love, and live out our faith. Every season, no matter how boring or challenging, holds a unique purpose when aligned with God’s will. No matter where you are in life, remember that God has a purpose for you in every season—embrace it with an open heart and trust in His perfect plan.

Peace be unto you Friend.
