Lord Have Mercy!

Welcome back to Live Full Die Empty, where we believe in filling our cups with honor, not just coffee!

Two things are on my mind right now- Mercy and Trail Blazers. These two came together perfectly this morning in the note that I sent out to my email community who I call the Trail Blazers.

The word mercy came up in my spirit several days ago and I knew I wanted to share more about it, but I wasn’t sure how. So as usual I began to make notes on my phone and before I knew it a song popped into my head. Guess what? It wasn’t a gospel song. The song didn’t even have a Christian origin yet it rang so true for me. I hope it will for you as well. Here are a couple of lines:

Lord have mercy on me
I was blind now I can see
What is a King supposed to be
Baby, I feel free
Come on and go with me

Again this is not a Christian song, but hearing it from a Christ perspective blessed me. Because that’s what God is. He is what a King is supposed to be. He’s the pattern, the blueprint. These song lyrics from this perspective is a testimony, a witness. That’s a new trail, a different mindset. God did something for us. He had mercy on our black souls. He washed them white as snow. Now we know who He is. So we know who we are. When you hear about your King, your Heavenly Father, it should make you stand a little taller and hold your head higher. You should say to yourself, I’m beautiful, blessed and brilliant. I’m humble. I’m chosen. I’m royal. I’m holy and unique. I’m special. I’m all of this because of God’s mercy.

Mercy is God’s kindness in action. It’s Him actively holding back what we deserve and covering us with love instead. We didn’t do anything to earn that goodness from him. He freely gives it because He loves us. That deserves praise, HALLELUJAH!!

God has honored us and allowed us to live good lives. Yes we’ve been through hurt and pain, some of it was quite traumatic and we carried it for quite some time. Yet we’re still here. We still have power and we still have faith. That makes us unstoppable. We can blaze new trails. Nothing can stand in our way because the champion of our fight has been merciful and He already won our battle.

Mercy is almost like a military term. And you and I are good Christian soldiers so we not only need mercy, we must extend mercy to others. We must value mercy over just because God does. When we should have been cut off and left on our own because of disobedience, He reached for is and loved us even more. Can we do that for our brothers and sisters? Can we do that for our co-worker who knows just how to get under our skin? Can we do that for our children who we have told the same things over and over and over? Can we do that for our spouse who seems to have tuned us out on certain topics? The answer is yes. Yes, you can show mercy. It’s not easy, but ask God to soften your heart. Ask Him to help you to be more like Him in these areas. And don’t just pay lip service, actually do it! Don’t be afraid when you find yourself more willing to compromise. Don’t be nervous when you find yourself smiling more or more socially and not as uptight or stressed.

Mercy is an extension of love. God’s love never fails, never gives up, and never runs out on us. That’s the Word through and through. It’s a gift we need only to accept and believe. Then once we believe we must pass it on.

I would love to have you be a part of my Trail Blazer email community. I reach out to them weekly with encouragement, tips, and hacks as well as gifts and deals that I may be offering at the time. It’s no coat to join, just drop me a line at [email protected] with the subject line Trail Blazer and you’re in.

I pray you have a beautiful, bright rest of your week. Peace be unto Friend.
