The fourth day of Advent

The fourth day of Advent December 2, 2020

Today is the Day of Salvation
(12/2)

“Now is the acceptable time; now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2)

Many people look toward a second coming at some future date. They calculate the signs of times, expecting Jesus to return to solve our problems. In looking toward the future, many become so heavenly minded that they are no earthly good. Yet, Advent is about the present as well as the future. God comes to us each new day. Each new day brings possibilities for healing and wholeness. God is at work in our lives. God is calling us to live abundantly today. God is calling us to love deeply today. As the Psalmist says, and as I repeat each morning, “this is the day that God has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Let this be the day of love and life and peace…and gratitude the wonders of our lives.

This is a day of new beginnings. Let us praise you, God of new life and love. Let us do something beautiful for you today. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
