What happens if the referees make the right call, and see that Pittsburgh’s quarterback did NOT break the touchdown line with the ball? You take away a Pittsburgh touchdown. The replays made it clear: He came as close as you can get, but he was stopped at the line — the ball never crossed it.
What happens if, as the announcers agreed, you give Seattle that touchdown reception, in which there was only the typical jostling for position and not offensive-pass-interference? You give Seattle a touchdown.
See what that does to the score?
What happens if you give Seattle back the momentum they had built before the refs decided that Pittsburgh was going to win the game? A very different second half.
As far as I’m concerned, Seattle won that game, and Pittsburgh’s living in denial.
End of story.
And hey, I went into the game expecting the Seahawks to lose. I was a nay-sayer, a pessimist, and in online predictions, I predicted Pittsburgh would win by a touchdown, fair and square. What’s really sad is that the Seahawks proved me wrong… they won, and the refs refused to give it to them, in spite of what we all saw on the replays.
Oh well… this is why I hate professional sports. Somehow, somebody always manages to take the fun out of it.
