belong to God.
Psalm 139: 13-16
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
Proverbs 14: 1
The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.
John 6: 66- 68
From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.
Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.”
Every parent’s goal should be to be half as great as your 5 year old thinks you are and half as dumb as you’re 15 year old thinks you are.
This reminds me of the Property Laws of a Toddler – (Evidences of Original Sin)
This is more proof of the importance of parenting.
This is how a Toddler views property in a nutshell…
1. If I like it, it’s mine.
2. If it’s in my hand, it’s mine.
3. If I can take it from you, it’s mine.
4. If I had it a little while ago, it’s mine.
5. If it’s mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way.
6. If I’m doing or building something, all the pieces are mine.
7. If it looks just like mine, it’s mine.
8. If I saw it first, it’s mine.
9. If you are playing with something and you put it down, it automatically becomes mine.
10. If it’s broken, it’s yours.
Joshua 24: 14-15
“Now fear the LORD and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshiped beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD. But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”
Men, those of you who are dads, it is your call – unless the Lord builds the house it is all in vain. So make sure to plan your back to school “to-do” lists, don’t forget the backpacks and the school supplies! But more important than that, make a commitment this year to be the father that God created you to be for those kids of yours that want and need you to encourage them, communicate with them and lead them by example!
Now go … and be a man!
