It’s a shame American legislators can act this way and get away with it – Hold them accountable.

It’s a shame American legislators can act this way and get away with it – Hold them accountable. March 2, 2016

When I have the honor of going to state capitols to see the Convention of States being voted, debated, and discussed, I marvel the Founding Fathers gave us this as a strategy if the federal government ever got too drunk on their own power.  The “emergency cord” is found in Article V, and it says that states can pass an application to restrain the federal government – without permission of Congress or the President.

So far, it has passed in Alabama, Tennessee, Alaska, Florida, Indiana, and Georgia,  but West Virginia legislators are depriving their state from taking part in this historic movement.  In fact, they’re depriving Americans from all states of their Constitutionally given opportunity to bring this nation back to its original glory.

How are they doing this?  By chickening out. By refusing to vote. Here’s how I describe their shenanigans:

There’s only one thing we can do… and you can do it EVEN IF YOU DON’T LIVE IN WEST VIRGINIA:

We have enough co-sponsors to guarantee final passage, we just need a vote on the House floor. Please call Speaker Tim Armstead and e-mail the WV Delegates and urge them to discharge SCR 10 from the Committee to give us our vote!

Speaker Armstead: (304) 340-3210.

Click on this link to send the following message to every WV Delegate:

As a West Virginian who is committed to the rule of law and the limitation of federal power, I urge you to discharge SCR 10 from the House Judiciary Committee. Thousands of West Virginians support this effort, and we insist that it receive a vote on the House floor before session ends on Saturday. Please stand up to champion our Constitution and the rule of law!

Respectfully,

[Your Name]

(If you don’t live in West Virginia, you can change the wording on your own email when it pops up.)

This is the RIGHT thing for him to do. SCR 10 has already passed in the Senate and we have done the work to get it passed. We must not allow mischief behind closed doors to interfere with the legislative process and deprive us of our vote.
