DC’s Metro special inauguration cards won’t feature Trump

This, I guess, should come as no surprise:

Metro just released the first image of 2017’s Inauguration Day SmarTrip card, and there’s one noteworthy omission: any mention of President-elect Donald Trump.

There’s a billowing American flag. A picture of the White House. The date of the event. And the words “58th PRESIDENTIAL INAUGURATION CELEBRATION.”

But there’s no Trump. That’s a change from the past two Inauguration Days, when President Obama’s smiling face beamed from the front of the cards. And in 2013, the commemorative card read, “America Makes History Again.”

Does that make sense to anyone?  Metro said that they requested permission from Trump to use his image but the campaign didn’t respond:

“Metro requested permission to use a photo, but received no response from the campaign,” the statement said. “Due to the long lead time to produce the cards, the new pass commemorates the national celebration of the 58th Presidential Inauguration.”

Whether or not that is true, I have a feeling we are in for a long, long list of examples of the way the culture treats the oh-so-venerated Obamas versus the despised Trumps — in Metro cards, in the media, and by celebrities.

What the “elite” culture doesn’t know is that we’re sick of them.  We want self-governance, we want a limited federal government, and we want to ensure the blessings of liberty.  They can keep their Metro cards.
