No more.
In March, angry protests had a fit at the New York City Whitney Museum over a painting. They demanded the painted be taken down; they stood in front of it, so no one could see it; some said they wouldn’t be happy until it was completely destroyed.
This time — and every time, it seems in the past few years — it wasn’t conservatives trying to destroy art, it was radical, angry leftists. (Oh, but I repeat myself.) The Federalist has the story:
The painting in question was “Open Casket,” a portrait of Emmett Till. Till, an African-American boy, was brutally murdered in 1955 for allegedly flirting with a white woman. His somber legacy still haunts an America struggling to come to terms with racial division. The controversy over the painting was not about its content, however, but its creator. Artist Dana Schutz is a white woman, and for some that makes her a person who should not paint a picture of Till.
Okay. So, just so you’ve got the story straight, these libs are so-tolerant and not-racist-at-all that they are judging the artist based 100% on the color of her skin. That’s not weird at all, is it?
Of course, I’m being sarcastic. It’s weird and intolerable.
“In this case Schutz clearly meant her painting to call attention to the dangers of racism, yet for this is called racist. Importantly, it is not the art that is deemed offensive, but the artist,” writes David Marcus. He also says that these radicals are so mad at the artist — since she had been so bold to paint Till — they are demanding that no museum anywhere show her work.
This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. A white woman paints a portrait to fight racism and she’s accused of racism. Why are leftists so full of hate and bigotry?
