Ex-CIA Chief Resigns His Harvard Position After They Invite Convicted Leaker Manning to Be a ‘Fellow’

Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government announced that it was going to invite a convicted felon — classified information leaker Chelsea Manning — to become a visiting fellow. Here’s a quick reminder of what this man, who used to be known as Bradley Manning before his transgender surgery — did:

Bradley Manning was no ordinary “leaker.” When he dumped hundreds of thousands of military and diplomatic secrets into the public domain, he violated every single tenet of the warrior ethos. He abandoned the mission. He “accepted” defeat and, through his data dumps, worked to facilitate it. He quit on his comrades, acting with utter, callous disregard for their lives. His message to his unit and to his nation was clear: He would disobey lawful orders and risk killing his comrades to, in his words, stimulate “worldwide discussions, debates, and reforms.”

You may also remember that President Barack Obama pardoned him, which is a national shame.  Harvard’s invitation is just the latest development in the Left’s attempt to be as ludicrous as possible. In fact, non-resident fellow and former acting CIA Director Mike Morell announced his resignation over the invitation.  The Washington Times reports:

In his resignation letter on Thursday, Michael J. Morell said he “cannot be part of an organization” that “honors a convicted felon and leaker of classified information.”

“Ms. Manning was found guilty of 17 serious crimes, including six counts of espionage, for leaking hundreds of thousands of classified documents to Wikileaks, an entity that CIA Director Mike Pompeo says operates like an adversarial foreign intelligence service,” Mr. Morell wrote. “Senior leaders in the military have stated publicly that the leaks by Ms. Manning put the lives of US soldiers at risk.”

The Kennedy School’s invitation will “assist Ms. Manning in her long-standing effort to legitimize the criminal path that she took to prominence,” the letter continued, and “may encourage others to leak classified information as well.”

Morell made it clear that his comments were in no way based on Manning’s individual status as a trans-woman or her recent advocacy, but solely on her decision to betray the United States by turning over classified information — and he said that he felt duty-bound to act:

“But, it is my right, indeed my duty, to argue that the School’s decision is wholly inappropriate and to protest it by resigning from the Kennedy School – in order to make the fundamental point that leaking classified information is disgraceful and damaging to our nation.”

Good for Morell!  (And by the way, can we pause a minute and reflect on the fact that Chelsea, who is a man who calls himself a woman, was invited by Harvard to be a “fellow?”  Hasn’t that ship already sailed?  Why is that institution so overrun by their overt heterosexism?)

I greatly appreciate Mike Morrell steadfastly standing on principle.  I disagree with him on only one count.  I will not call Chelsea Manning a woman.  “He” is a man, pretending to be a woman.  Pretending doesn’t make it so, and I cannot and will not be forced to participate in that charade.  Every human has the inherent right to change their name, and so I have no problem calling him Chelsea, if that’s what he now wishes to be called.  But no human can go against biology and nature and change their gender.  That’s simply fantasy, and I will not indulge in the leftist cult of science denialism to make someone feel better about their psychological difficulties.

The dean of Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government took it all back, in a lame explanation of their invitation:

“I now think that designating Chelsea Manning as a visiting fellow was a mistake, for which I accept responsibility,” Kennedy School Dean Douglas W. Elmendorf said in a statement posted on the university’s website early Friday. “I still think that having her speak in the Forum and talk with students is consistent with our longstanding approach, which puts great emphasis on the value of hearing from a diverse collection of people.

“But I see more clearly now that many people view a Visiting Fellow title as an honorific, so we should weigh that consideration when offering invitations,” Elmendorf added.

Ya think? I didn’t go to Harvard, and I’m really proud of that.  Their invitation shows exactly their level of dedication to lunacy and anti-American political correctness run amok.  May Americans stop giving this dusty institution an ounce of respect, may American parents not send another dollar for tuition, and may Harvard alumni refuse to give them another dime.
