This has absolutely nothing to do with politics: it has to do with goodness and evil.

A little boy in Knoxville, Tennessee filmed a video after getting in his car.  You’ll notice he has scars on his head, due to surgery for brain tumors.  He’d been bullied at school again.  His mother — whom you don’t see in the video — asks him questions.  You can hear the pain in her voice and his.  He explains that people at school tell him that he’s ugly, make fun of his nose, and stick food down his clothes at lunch.  By the end of it, he’s sobbing.

But, when his mom posted it to Facebook, she included this note:

For the record, Keaton asked to do this AFTER he had he me pick him up AGAIN because he was afraid to go to lunch. My kids are by no stretch perfect, & at home, he’s as all boy as they come, but by all accounts he’s good at school. Talk to your kids. I’ve even had friends of mine tell me they’re kids were only nice to him to get him to mess with people. We all know how it feels to want to belong, but only a select few know how it really feels not to belong anywhere.

Her message went super-viral.  It’s been seen almost twenty million times as of this writing.  The response to his plight has been quite simply, overwhelming.  Hopefully, it will create permanent change, in his life, at his school, and in a broader societal sense.

A fund has been set up for his future.  (In fact, in one day, $40,000 dollars has been given to make his future better!)  The entire University of Tennessee football wants to meet him and celebrities have invited him to movie premiers.  Here are a couple of the responses:

Plus Captain America invited him to Hollywood for the Avengers premiere!

Actor Chris Evans wrote, “Stay strong, Keaton. Don’t let them make you turn cold. I promise it gets better. While those punks at your school are deciding what kind of people they want to be in this world, how would you and your mom like to come to the Avengers premiere in LA next year?”

Watch the heartbreaking video below:

Whether you have been bullied, done the bullying, or stood by and watched, we’ve all been there, and all know it is wrong.  I was bullied as a child, and I have had one of my children bullied.  I could try to describe the feelings, as a child or a parent, but I think just watching this video tells you all you need to know, and says it far better than I ever could.

Please…send this along.  And do it with love.  You may save a life…and you will most certainly save someone some pain.

“Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.”    Luke 9:48
