Why Not You?

Cold comfort, but I, for one, somehow find it consoling. Suffering doesn’t mean God has abandoned you. It means he respects you as much as he respects Christ, so cowboy up!

That’s not a word of consolation everybody needs to hear. Some souls might find it very painful or even callous. But on the other hand, it a word of consolation some people badly need to hear, because it makes suffering genuinely meaningful to them in a way that “There there!” never could. Since our culture is awash in “There There” I though I’d offer a minority view from the peanut gallery. If it’s useful, great. If not, ignore it.
