In response to this, he writes this:
Mark:
There’s a simple way to humanize your written disagreements.
First, baseline your current behavior by constructing a least squares error response function, modeling the factors as trinary inputs.
In subsequent disputes, make a note of the factors’ values and, if your predicted behavior is too dehumanized, adjust the factors (in order from most to least significant) until the modeled behavior is appropriate. Then you simply reconstruct the dispute such that the factors accord with your new model, respond accordingly, and you’re good to go.
With the help of a spreadsheet — although a Gregg ruled steno pad will work if you don’t want to get too fancy — in no time you’ll be treating others as persons rather than abstractions.
