Phone the Neighbors and Wake the Kids! Alert the Media! April 6, 2009

Dear Friends of the Seattle G. K. Chesterton Society,

Our spring lectures are swiftly approaching, about which I will mail you separately. My purpose in this message is to notify all of our friends about a most exciting event coming to our area this coming summer.

Some of you over the years have no doubt attended the conference of the American Chesterton Society, up to now held annually in St. Paul, Minnesota. And a few of you may already be aware that this stimulating and delightful yearly celebration of Chesterton has now become a moveable conference.

The Seattle and Puget Sound area is honored to be the first new location in years to host the annual conference of the ACS.

Accordingly, you are all invited to plan to attend the annual conference of the American Chesterton Society, this year, on the campus of Seattle University, August 6 – 8, 2009.

The theme of the conference, taken from the title of the Tremendous Trifles Chesterton volume, is 100 Years of Trifles: The 28th Annual G. K. Chesterton Conference. The conference will feature more than a dozen speakers, including Dale Ahlquist, Robert Moore, Michael Perry, Nathan Allen, Carl Hasler, Michael Ward, Rod Bennett, David Deavel, Mark Shea, and Kevin O’Brien.

The conference will also feature the World Premiere screening of a new Fr. Brown film, “The Honour of Israel Gow”, starring Kevin O’Brien, and a preview of the new film of Chesterton’s novella “Manalive”, starring our very own Mark Shea as Innocent Smith.

So I urge you, mark your calendars! I can assure you from personal experience that the ACS Chesterton conference is an event not to be missed, especially when we are blessed to have it occur in our very own back yard!

For more details concerning the conference and the American Chesterton Society, please visit the ACS website.

Yours faithfully,

The Seattle G. K. Chesterton Society
