Satanic Ecumenism in the Strangest Places

Five years ago, when the consequentialism of the Rubber Hose Right was riding high, Michael Ledeen wrote an infamous piece of “moral reasoning” (so-called) in which he basically argued “Wouldn’t we all be better off if Henry Tandey had just murdered the unarmed, wounded Hitler when he found him in trench in 1918?” I made the point that, if you are going to argue this way, then why not go whole hog and lobby for abortion rights for Klara Hitler?

Of course, for the Left, such consequentialist thinking is received wisdom.

It’s good to see the Rubber Hose Right and the Babies are Evil Left in such hearty concord about doing grave evil now in order to stop Hitler 40 years from now. My (fading) hope is that people will wake up and realize that since they are advocating we do evil right now these people are evil–right now–and that they should be stopped–right now.
