Your attention please: We are now entering a “What Could it Hurt?” phase of history April 9, 2009

Global Warming Climate change is a super duper emergency (even though the earth has not warmed in ten years). Our Chattering Classes demand immediate panic-driven action! Let’s shoot pollution into the atmosphere. It’s “radical“. We don’t really know what it will do. But we’re the best and the brightest. And besides: what could it hurt?

When the state proclaims an emergency and announces some radical policy which we must enact RIGHT FREAKING NOW OR WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE, I have learned my lesson from such previous experiments in governance by the best and brightest such as Iraq War II, the Gulf of Tonkin, and the Enabling Act of 1933. Governance by emergency decree is a refuge for scoundrels.
