The Anti-Semitism of the Neocon Defenders

The Anti-Semitism of the Neocon Defenders 2015-01-01T14:55:53-07:00

One of the curious paradoxes of so many of the End to Evil types is how reflexively anti-semitic some neocon defenders seem to be.

For instance, Dan Froomkin was a popular blogger for the WaPo (he wrote 2 of the 10 most trafficked columns for their website). However, he fell afoul of End to Evil type Charles Krauthammer when he tore apart Krauthammer’s grotesque and immoral apologias for torture (Krauthammer’s response was to call him “stupid“) and aggressively pursued the crapola emitted by the sundry apologists for Bush/Cheney’s “Let us do evil for the Greater Good” policies.

The WaPo resolved the situation by firing Froomkin and printing more crap by the End to Evil types, so Andrew Sullivan called them on it: pointing out the various facts in Froomkin’s case.

Here’s where things get ridiculous. All of a sudden, you have various End to Evil types arraigning Sullivan as… wait for it… antisemitic.

Now, Froomkin is Jewish. So, for that matter, is Glenn Greenwald, who has also chronicled the WaPo’s self-enslavement to the editorial biases of sundry End to Evil types. Moreover, Sullivan said not one word about the ethnicity of any of the parties involved. He was concerned about their ideas, and particularly their grotesque defenses of torture policies established by our decidedly Gentile President and Vice President.

But, for some mysterious reason, these neocon organizations insist on instantly assuming that Jews are somehow singularly to blame for the the failed and disastrous ideas they themselves have advocated and to charge anybody who opposes these ideas with opposing Jews. I think this is an insult to Jews. Gentiles have been quite as capable of advocating disastrous and immoral war and torture policies over the past eight years. But every time somebody criticizes End to Evil secular messianism and the torture policies of the Bush Administration, some cry goes up like the attacks on Sullivan, in which the immediate assumption is that such criticism of these evil policies can only be due to hostility to Jews, despite the fact that the only people connecting to the evil policies to “Jewishness” are neocon defenders themselves. As far as I know, guys like Bush, Cheney, Limbaugh, Hannity, and sundry other Gentile talking head torture defenders are not Jewish. As far as I can tell, guys like Froomkin and Greenwald are as Jewish as Krauthammer and Perle.

I think neocon defenders really need to rethink the whole strategy of arraigning their critics as anti-semites. It looks more and more like the people with the *really* low opinion of Jews are the neocon defenders themselves.
