Gay Enthusiasts Panic Too Easily

Gay Enthusiasts Panic Too Easily August 25, 2009

First, some prefatory remarks from one of the most hilarious preachers of our time:

The above was delivered in deadly earnest by one Pastor Steven Anderson of the Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, AZ. It is, as you can tell from the video, an itsy bitsy storefront church with a few repressed members who spend their days singing hymns and listening to Pastor Anderson’s unintentionally hilarious rants as he works out some of his issues concerning his manhood. Catholics can find out all sorts of things about the Evils of Romishness from his site and, no doubt, somewhere in his cogent analyses, he has recommended that we idolators be destroyed. But I’m not going to lay awake worrying about the marching phalanx of Faithful Word Baptist Church-inspired Youtube zombies setting fire to my house in a frenzy of Catholic hatred.

That’s the difference between me and the hand-wringing bedwetters who write things like:

Pastor Steven Anderson believes in a God of hate, wrath and vengeance and he preaches his frightening message of hate to his congregation of young families three times a week at his independent, fundamental Baptist Church in Tempe, Arizona.

One of his frequent subjects of scorn is homosexuality and Pastor Anderson teaches his followers to not only hate gays, but advocates that they be punished and executed with the death penalty.

Pastor Anderson heads the Faithful Word Baptist Church, which he describes as a “…King James Bible only, separated Baptist church” that opposes “…worldliness, modernism, formalism, and liberalism.”

The church doctrinal statement spells out his belief that gays should be put to death. “We believe that homosexuality is a sin and an abomination which God punishes with the death penalty.”

“Frightening”? Really? Reeeeeeaally? “Ridiculous”, I can see. Frightening? Yeah. Right.
