Pagan morality vs. Jesus

Pagan morality vs. Jesus August 19, 2009

NRO offers a frank and open rejection of Christian teaching on forgiveness in favor of naked pagan morality.

It’s a natural as the daylight of course. The first and most obvious pagan system of morality says, “Love your friends and hate your enemies.” It doesn’t take any big moral genius to figure that one out. Even the tax collectors do as much. We learn and live it automatically by the age of two. Precisely where revelation is necessary (both to show us we need to do it and to empower us in doing it) is in discovering “Love your enemies” and “When you stand to pray, forgive anyone against whom you have a grievance, so that your heavenly Father may in turn forgive you your transgressions.”
