A friend of mine from a Christian mothers’ forum passed away yesterday after a short but heroic battle with lung cancer. Mary Anaya leaves behind a husband, Josue, and ten children. The 18-week old baby she was carrying died a few hours before she did. Mary refused aggressive treatment options because they would be lethal to the baby. She and her husband founded Mission for All Nations , the largest food pantry in Nebraska. The Anayas do not have health insurance, and the missionFAN organization is accepting donations to help Mr. Anaya cover the tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills accrued by Mary’s treatment.
Mary’s pro-life witness until the end and her true devotion to God’s poor were inspirations to me in my faith. This woman was an amazing, devoted mother who sought the Lord in all things. Her famous signature line read “God is greater than good!” and she remained ever cheerful and devoted to her friends at the forum between hospital stays.
Because she was an Evangelical who ran in Evangelical circles, many prayers have been offered for her family, but few for the repose of her soul. Please, Mr. Shea and all his readers, pray for Mary Anaya, that our Lord would welcome her into the dwelling place He has prepared for her so that she can continue to sing His praises eternally.
As Mary used to say, “The peace of the Lord be upon your house.”

May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
She sounds like a holy woman. Bless her.
