Prayer Requests 2014-12-31T17:47:51-07:00

A reader writes:

I would be really, really grateful if you and your readers could storm heaven for a wonderful, large family we know that is on the verge of marital separation.

Thank you and may God bless you!

And another asks:

Last week my aunt was diagnosed with cancer. The doctors have said she might last years (if she can tolerate the chemo) or months (if she can’t).

Would you ask your readers to pray for her?

Thank you very much!

Father, hear our prayer for the healing of this family and this woman through Jesus Christ our Lord. Mother Mary, intercede for all involved in these situations that they might obtain God’s full life in their situations!

By the way, my reader who had the flu is much better thanks be to God!

Oh! And Nick Milne writes:

Thank you for posting my prayer request, and the links to the other stuff. I’m much obliged to you and your readers, and the burden under which I was living already feels a bit lighter.

I’m also writing to tell you that yesterday, Oct. 4th, was the anniverary of the legendary Battle of Cable Street (1936), in which the people of London’s East End – socialists, shopkeepers, Jews, Catholics, dockworkers, the lot – turned out to prevent the passage of a parade of Oswald Mosley’s blackshirted Fascists. Barricades went up. Fighting was fierce. They did not pass.

I’ve written a lengthy account of the lead-up to the Battle and of the clash itself. It concludes with a bittersweet reflection about Chesterton, whose commentary upon it would have been indispensable if he hadn’t died four months before it happened, and I think it may be of interest to your readers.

It has many photographs of the Battle, too.

I hope this finds you well, and that a city alrady cold and wet is not becoming intolerably so. We’re almost at the brink of winter up here as it is, in some parts of Canada, and I think it’s only a matter of weeks before the snow will begin to fall.
