Quick catchups 2014-12-31T17:47:34-07:00

I’m back among the living, but with lotsa catchup to do. Here are some prayer requests:

You may remember me as “Alias Clio”, once-and-future commentator and blogger.

I have a problem that could use the prayers of your faithful readers: I’ve been out of work for a year. One of the reasons for this is that I was offered a job last October, and waited until April for the job to come through. When it did, I discovered that I lacked an essential qualification just as I was about to sign my letter of offer, and so had to turn it down. Sigh.

I’ve been able to support myself with the help of my family and my savings, but my accounts are nearly empty now. My fiance (he’s a revert, in part thanks to Scott Hahn and in part through my efforts at quiet evangelization…) and I were hoping to marry in the spring, but since his job situation is also precarious, I don’t know if that will be possible.

I’m aware that there are many people these days in far worse situations, but if anyone out there would care to say a prayer for us, I would greatly appreciate it. I’m both worried and frustrated, which is making it hard for me to pray with real attention, though I know it should not.

We have friends the wife of which pair is pregnant, about 3 months. They thought today that she was miscarrying. Went to the hospital tonight, and it turns out the baby *might* be OK. She has bleeding above the placenta, and she’s on bedrest for a while, until the bleeding stops. Her husband (one of my closest friends here) is under a lot of pressure at work, and they homeschool their not-so-little platoon of several children. So pray, please, that their unborn baby makes it, and that they all can cope with the added stress of having mommy out of commission.

My mother was in a car accident a short while ago. She does not appear to be injured but is gettng x-rayed to make sure. Please pray that she suffers no serious harm.

Just to let you know that David Otteni passed away today. May God, in His great mercy, grant rest, peace and happiness to his soul. Amen.

I’ve posted a prayer request on my blog , but if you could post it as well, I would greatly appreciate it. Here are the details:

“After my last presentation at our parish RCIA group, I spoke to a young lady who was struggling to learn more about the faith. She was raised a Methodist in a very anti-Catholic environment. She was never really very interested in that faith, and she drifted into atheism befor heading off to college.

“Now, amazing things are happening to her and bringing her to the Church, but she is struggling. She doesn’t know enough to defend her fledgling faith from her so-called friends who are ridiculing her desire to join the Church, and she’ll be facing additional stress when she informs her mom of her desires.

“Please storm Heaven with prayers for this young lady. She needs all the help she can get.”

I would like to ask for a prayer on behalf of my father who is in hospice, and has been since Wednesday afternoon. He is in decline and efforts now are simply to keep him as comfortable as possible. It may be just a matter of days before he leaves behind this mortal coil. Prayers that might ease his passing will be greatly appreciated.

I’m getting ready to post a new page on my website on population control, that peculiar hobby of billionaires. I will notify you when it is up. Meanwhile—and I know this is getting old—I’m in financial shambles again. Please pray I can get a job that will work out around my new school schedule and my health and energy level. And please pray for my sister. She just got whacked by the IRS without warning for $2,500—just cleaned out her bank account without warning by the IRS—her ex put a lot of things in her name before leaving her. She is devastated, and I feel very helpless. She is, at the moment, underemployed and needs a better job and I was hit with an unexpected charge to my account putting me way into overdraft. Pleaes pray most of all. She and I pray the rosary every night together Asking Our Lady to untie the Knots of out financial woes. (I’ll attach the novena we say with the Rosary).

If you can find it in your hearts to make a donation of any size at my PayPal site (at http://johnmallon.net) It will never be forgotten, and you will always be in my prayers. I leave now for my first of four classes that will enable me to become a mental health professional. God bless you all for all your kindness. I am also at work writing a book for couples, but especially wife who have discovered their husband has a porn addiction, and how to deal with it and hopefully heal marriages.

Father, hear our prayer for all these needs, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Especially, have mercy on Dave Otteni and grant him eternal life through Christ our Lord. Amen. Mother Mary, pray for all these needs.
