of the old joke about the sign in the convent parking lot: “Reserved parking. Violators will be prosecuted to the fullest extend of the law. – The Sisters of Mercy

I know you have blogged about this issue recently, but I’m encouraging those with the means to “shine the light” on this travesty of justice. It seems to me that Notre Dame President Fr. Jenkins has yet to really feel the heat on this issue:
By all accounts, the pro-life protesters – including Norma McCorvey, Alan Keyes, and 79-year-old priest Fr. Norman Weslin, handcuffed and dragged away while singing “Immaculate Mary”
– were arrested for trespass while pro-obama supporters were not. Essentially, they were arrested for “carrying the wrong signs”. Reportedly, Notre Dame President Fr. Jenkins has “no interest” in asking for leniency for the pro-life protesters. Moreover, the judge assigned to the “ND88” – Judge Jenny Pitts Manier – is married to a notoriously pro-abortion Notre Dame faculty member – Professor Edward
Manier – yet she refuses to recuse herself. For additional background, please see here, here, and here.
I believe this issue has not received the attention it deserves.
Thank you and best regards,
Notre Dame could show a little class and drop the charges. But when you prostitute yourself and toss away the gospel for $$$ and prestige, one of the first things to go is mercy. Love of power tends to get coupled with the love of watching your enemy crawl and squirm in your merciless grip. Still, it’s asking ND to be lenient to see what happens.
