Congratulations, Torture Defenders and Worshippers of the Son of Man

You have your wish. The Supreme Court has just gutted due process in Holy Obedience to the Son of Man and taken us back roughly 2000 years:

The development? If the president or one of his subordinates declares someone to be an “enemy combatant” (the 21st century version of “enemy of the state”) he is denied any protection of the law. So any trouble-maker (which means anyone) can be whisked away, incarcerated, tortured, “disappeared,” you name it.

Fortunately, we live in the Land of Immunity from Original Sin and no elected executive would ever dream of stripping an innocent person of due process. This enormous unchecked power will always only be used against Bad People and never to oppress critics of the regime and if you have any misgivings about it, that shows you are On the Side of the Terrorists and, quite possibly, an Enemy Combatant yourself. It’s quite ingenious really. It manages to bring together the End to Evil Right and the Obama-worshipping Left into one loony melange of American messianism.

It’s a good thing he’s the Son of Man. Just believe and you will be saved.
