The other day I skimmed the latest issue of the Atlantic. In it, Christopher Hitchens reviewed the historical novel, Wolf Hall, by Hilary Mantel. Here’s the pull quote that I noticed:

Anyone who has been bamboozled by the saccharine propaganda of A Man for All Seasons should read Mantel.

This is, of course, a completely unsurprising statement coming from Hitchens. However, it reminded me of something I read many years ago from a Catholic writer who also complained about Robert Bolt’s play and screenplay. Unfortunately, I’m very fuzzy on the details. Do you know what I’m talking about, or am I just imagining things? Even if you don’t know the exact piece I’m thinking of, perhaps you can direct me to anyone else who made the Catholic case against Bolt’s version, or at least, a good summary of that case.

I dunno. Anybody?
