Speaking of the Mysterious Benedict-Hating Society

Here’s my latest piece for Inside Catholic. Basic story: in a world where the Most Powerful Man on Earth just unilaterally decided to grant himself the absolute despotic power to kill anyone he likes, citizen or not, without benefit of arrest, trial or evidence, the media is courageously focusing on… a form letter in a relatively minor bureacratic process 23 years ago which resulted in (gasp!) a priest being laicized. Not that they are completely uninvolved in Obama’s newfound 007 powers of life and death over every American citizen. They helpfully regurgitate the talking points when an “unnamed official” states that he “believes” a citizen is an Enemy of the State and worthy of death. So our journalistic superiors are clearly asking the hard questions.
