Catholic and Enjoying It!
A reader writes:
Could you please ask your readers to pray for baby Elijah? He is four months old, was badly beaten by his biological “mother” to the point of going blind, and has a shattered femur, fractured skull, a damaged brain, and more. He was under seven pounds a couple of weeks ago, so he is badly malnourished. He has had trouble keeping his temperature and sodium where they should be. He is on a feeding tube, and most recently, is on a ventilator. The doctors don’t think he will come home from the hospital this time (to my cousin, who is now fostering him and trying to adopt Elijah and his two small siblings, also abused but not as badly). It is doubtful that Elijah has ever been baptized.
This is so heartbreaking that I didn’t know how much detail to go into. I am sorry if this E-mail is as hard for you to handle as all of this is for me.
Father, hear our prayers for this child’s healing through your Son Jesus Christ and the intercession of our Lady and St. Jude. Forgive his mother this horrible sin through the same Christ our Lord. And helpt the person who sent this to remain close to you and find grace, consolation and strength. Amen!
