A reader asks prayer for this poor soul:
According to the pastor, he returned to the Faith (after decades away) the Sunday before he hanged himself but had a very frightening look in his eyes when came up for Communion.
His body was burnt and the family was going to take the “ashes” to the woods. Instead, the pastor intervened and he is buried next to Wm F. Buckley
Father, have mercy on him and grant him peace through our Lord Jesus Christ. Mother Mary, pray for him. St. Dymphna, pray for him. St. Jude, pray for him.
Another reader writes:
My maid of honor called me yesterday to tell me the awful news that her husband, who was only in his 50s, had died in his sleep yesterday morning. They were both lapsed Catholics, so there will be no funeral; just a cremation and a get-together at a later date to remember him.
In addition to this most recent tragedy, their house is in foreclosure, to be auctioned next month; their son has Type I diabetes and ADHD; and there were other legal issues concerning the property that had them in and out of court.
Please, please pray for them all. I can’t share their names, but God knows who they are.
I’m trying to find resources in northern New Jersey that will help them through this. I have sent an email to the local Catholic parish to see what they can do. She’s also a NYC school teacher, so I’m trying to find out how (if) the union can help.
Father, hear our prayer for the soul of this man and for his widow, that through this tragedy you Name will be glorified by their salvation in Christ Jesus. Mother Mary, intercede for him at the hour of his death and for his widow, that she might turn to your Son Jesus. We ask this through Christ our Lord, amen!
Finally, Brian Visaggio writes:
So, in addition to being an absentee blogger, I am also a seminary candidate for the Diocese of Brooklyn. This was a decision I spent years putting off, but finally, this year, I’ve applied, and God willing, I will begin my studies this fall. However, the decision as to my admission is still to be made, and I was wondering, oh Dark One, if I could maybe martial your legions of mooks and goons to, perhaps, *pray* for my admission. I’m trying to trust God’s will one way or the other, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t hoping for admission.
Father, hear our prayer that the offering of Brian’s life in your service will be accepted that he may serve your people as a priest and that together with him, we might attain the beatific vision by his ministry to you and your people. Mother Mary, pray for him! We ask this through Christ our Lord! Amen!
