A reply to a Protestant apologist’s claim that the similarities re: sacramental theology in the various Eastern Churches is only a matter of “cross-pollination” not indicating that the similarities show the antiquity of sacramental theology.
I can see an Evangelical or Fundamentalist, utterly innocent of any knowledge of history, making such a silly claim. But for somebody who styles himself a “Protestant apologist” to maintain, with a straight face, that the Eastern Church was more or less a collection of storefront church with KJV preachin’, big hair, overhead projectors and no, absolutely no, sacraments, smells or bells until Rome infected them… that’s just milk out the nose funny.

There’s no way somebody can be that stupid naturally. That sort of idiocy takes practice and sophistication. You have to be wilfully dishonest: like the Hindenburg of Phoenix and his absurd notions of proto-Baptists at the Council of Nicaea. People like White know too much of the data to be inculpably ignorant. Those in his orbit tend to pick up the habits of dishonesty from their Master.
