1. In which I perform the painful duty of reminding people who should know better that you don’t have rights without responsibilities and that, under God, when you abandon the Big Laws about responsibility, you get the small laws of speech codes and PC pieties.

2. In which Jimmy Akin undertakes the task of reminding Faithful Conservative Catholics[TM] that murdering innocent people cannot be squared with Catholic teaching (and gets accused of pacifism and love for liturgical dance, among other things, by lunatic bent on squaring the circle). Moral: Don’t let anybody tell you that all the naked and open dissent from clear Catholic prolife teaching is exclusively the property of Lefty Pro-aborts. It’s amazing how similar the logic and tactics of right and left wing advocates of murdering the innocent are.

Take, for instance, this delectable piece of logic:

Jimmy, you are living in a fantasy world. Your statement “No, You Can’t Deliberately Kill Innocent People (Sorry!)” is incorrect. It is being done every day. And God allows it to continue. So dropping the A bomb on two cities of Japan was just another day in God’s plan.

Once again: May God solemnly damn this sort of sophistry on behalf of evil through our Lord Jesus Christ. As grotesque as appealing to the crucifixion as a justification for torture. (Seriously, I have had readers say that torture is perfectly fine since God allowed Jesus to be tortured to death. St. Judas Iscariot, pray for us.)
