First:
ALL SAINTS DAY MASS and POTLUCK
We will celebrate the lives of the saints by gathering to honor them on their feast day, Monday, November 1. A Family Mass begins at 5:30 PM in the Church.
After Mass, we will have a potluck supper in the Parish Hall.
Following dinner, there will be an open mike where people can share an anecdote commemorating a particular saint. Anyone who wishes to may wear a costume portraying their chosen saint.
Prizes will be given to any child who dresses up to portray a saint, or is willing to say a few words about a favorite saint.
For the potluck, please use the following guide:
If your last name begins with:
A – H, bring a salad or a side dish
I – M, bring a dessert
N – Z, bring a main dish or a pizza
The parish will provide beverages and bread. We hope you can join us on Monday, November 1. Please contact Marilyn Thornton with questions,
206-355-6540.
Second:
The Dominican Rite Mass for All Souls
We will commemorate the faithful departed during a Solemn Dominican Rite Mass for All Souls on Tuesday, November 2, at 7:00 PM, with the Mass setting sung by the Tudor Choir, resident ensemble at Blessed Sacrament Church. The music includes Dominican chants and the polyphonic setting of the Requiem Mass by Portuguese composer, Duarte Lobo.
If you would like to commemorate the memory of a loved one, please send their name, the date of their birth and death, as well as a photo and we will include them in the Mass. Their name and photo will be placed in a “catafalque” which symbolizes the coffin that would normally hold the body of the deceased. The Mass is not being prayed for any particular individual, but rather for all the deceased. An honorary donation may be made to Blessed Sacrament Church. Contact Jesson Mata at 206-732-7343.
