I have this theory that if large entertainment conglomerates could invent a system where they just plugged a jack into the base of your skull and downloaded the sensation of pleasure into your brain without ever having to bother creating anything or paying anybody, while charging some large ticket prace, they would finally have achieved the apotheosis of the prefab “art” they are laboring to churn out. What astounds me is how many films are made each year that no amount of persuasion could induce me to go see. Indeed, there are so many films that nobody goes to see–and yet there they are! Somebody paid huge sums of money to write, direct, film, edit and score them–and they are awful! How does that happen?
