I’d like to ask youse guys to pray for two dear friends who are grappling with depression.
Also, a reader writes:
May I ask you and your readers to pray for my good friend, Brother Clarence? Brother Clarence is a Theatine seminarian whom I met when he was living at St. Albert’s and studying with the Dominicans. While there, he suffered a stroke, but managed to make a full recovery. He is now in Denver living with his Theatine brothers and studying at the seminary there. Sadly, his health has seriously declined in recent months. He is in congestive heart failure, which has put major stress on his other organs. His kidneys, in particular, are no longer functioning well. Brother Clarence was just released from a week and a half stay in the hospital, and now has a catheter and is on oxygen full-time. Despite all of his health challenges, Clarence is making a concerted effort to not only attend and participate in Mass, but also to keep up with his studies. (This is a particular challenge, as the edema from the CHF makes it difficult for him to type.)
God willing, Brother Clarence will make Solemn Vows in August, be ordained a Deacon in January, and later be ordained a priest. Brother Clarence wants nothing more than to be a priest and do God’s will. And he will most certainly make an amazing priest. He has already taught me so much about faith and what it means to be a Child of God; I can only imagine how much more good he can do for Christ and His Church through the gift of his priesthood.
Please pray for Brother Clarence through the intercession of his patron, Father Tom Kraft, OP. Perhaps we can get Father Tom his first documented intercessory miracle. 😉
(FYI, I asked Clarence if I could write to you with a public prayer request. He says that he could use all the prayers he can get. I have his permission to use his name and give out details about his health.) Thanks, Mark! Much love and hugs to you, Jan, and the boys!
Father, hear our prayer for Br. Clarence and his complete healing in body, soul, and spirit, that he may serve you as a priest for many years to come. Mother Mary and St. Luke, pray for him! We ask this through Christ our Lord, amen!
