I think the bottom line is: few people understand what marriage is and what it is for, and even fewer understand why the state has an interest in protecting the family (namely, because that’s where the next generation of the human race comes from), but not an interest in making narcissistic homosexuals feel affirmed in their okayness. Since Generation Narcissus redefined ethics as “consent is the sole criterion of the good”, our culture has radically lost touch with the idea of actually ordering society toward the common good.
