Pretty Cool

Prehistoric feathers discovered in amber. Of course, there’s some base-stealing in this piece, like “How do we know these are *dinosaur* feathers?” is a question neither answered nor asked. This might be bird feathers for all we know (though I don’t have a problem with the proposition that birds evolved from dinosaurs). And the comboxes are filled with the usual clash of ignorant armies in stygian darkness, all screaming about science vs. religion and anointing this find as yet another religious icon for their scientifically and theologically illiterate feud. But still, the story is cool. I wonder if they can salvage some DNA from the feathers?
