My only comment would be that, as Spielberg continues his quest to work through his daddy issues, one very important contribution to Greydanus’ sampler of Broken Family films is “War of the Worlds” in which not just one house, but three, get smashed to pieces as emblems of the ruins of the hero’s family, before he finally proves his fatherhood.
A really fascinating piece by a guy I am honored to call my friend. Well done, Steven!
