That this reckless and unstable man could ever have been taken seriously, much less be anointed yet another unassailable Folk Hero and a spiritual guide and source of wisdom by conservative Catholics is just more confirmation of the stunning lack of discernment that troubles this increasingly troubled subculture in the Church.
