I’m writing to let you know that Dappled Things just inaugurated an all-new website and released its latest edition, which includes an interview with Heather King that I think your readers would like. The interview deals with the struggle for holiness and the writing of her new book, Shirt of Flame: My Year With St. Therese of Liseux. The interview includes many quotable bits, including the following passage:
To penetrate the Gospels is to penetrate reality. Christianity is above all weird: “counter, original, spare, strange” as Gerard Manley Hopkins had it in a poem you all know well. Thérèse to me was more Zen than Suzuki, more existentially profound than Sartre, more conversant with the darkness than Nietzsche (she suffered from fearsome aridity for much of her adult life), infinitely more of a woman and a human being than any mere “feminist.”
Hope you like it, and thanks again for alerting readers to our content!
Best,
Bernardo
P.S.: You may recall that I wrote to you about my uncle with cancer a while back. Thanks so much for posting the prayer request on the site. He underwent a tremendous operation but has been recovering well. In fact, his latest tests showed him to be completely clear of cancer, and his doctors have actually been asking what saint is interceding for him, as they are astonished at his turnaround. Thanks be to God!
Thanks! And thanks be to God about your Uncle!
