Liars for Anthropogenic Climate Change

Liars for Anthropogenic Climate Change February 22, 2012

Exactly a year ago, I will embroiled in a great controversy with prolifers who insisted that it is A OK to lie in a good cause.

A year later, we find somebody else learning the error of that moral theory again. Only because the cause is something a lot of conservatives don’t care about or actually disagree with, I think odds are good the lesson they will draw is not “Don’t lie” but “When you lie, make sure it’s in a good cause.”

Sin makes you stupid.

The ends justify the means. The morality is settled.

  • Apparently, sin makes you stupid enough to believe your opponents would state one of their goals to be “dissuading teachers from teaching science”.

There is somewhat of a difference between the ACW talk and the talk about “Live Action” and Planned Parenthood. Whole the Global Warming Facts are patently false, the facts being exposed about Planned Parenthood happen sadly to be true and falsehoods and deceptions aside Planned Parenthood is now the target of widespread legal action by local governments as to the real crimes going on there. Let God decide if they are guilty or not. It is not up to us to judge human hearts but God, and lets us please during this Lenten season look at and concentrate on our own faults sins and imperfections like it says in the “Imitation of Christ” by Thomas a Kempis.

    • @Joannie,

Not to put too fine a point on it, but you missed the point completely.

  • I doubt climate change arguments simply based on data sample size. We have about 150 years of data at best to judge if a temperature change is a normal or abnormal variation over all of earth history. It is like judging the history of the Stock Market based on the past few minutes. Should I draw conclusions & change strategy based on the past few minutes?

The question I’m about to ask regarding lying has probably been brought up before, but I thought I’d ask it anyway as I’d like to know what to make of it. In Chapter 7 of the Gospel of John, the “brothers” of Jesus urge Him to go to Judaea so that His works may be seen there. Jesus replies to them in verses 8 to 10 as follows:
“Go up yourselves to the festival. I am not going up to this festival because the time is not yet ripe for me. Having said this, he stayed on in Galilee. However, once his brothers had gone up to the festival, he too went up, but as if in secret and not for all to see.”

On the face of it, this seems like a lie. One could argue that our Lord changed his mind once his brothers had left. On the other hand, the phrase “I am not going up” seems like a firm statement of His intention not to attend the festival. Any ideas of how to understand this passage? Have I missed something very obvious?

What should I make of this? (profanity)

“Any of these Republicans – ANY OF THEM, are a hell of an improvement over Barack Obama. If it’s Santorum, or Romney, or Gingrich, or Paul…you fall in line and you support that candidate and you vote Obama the f- out. That’s the goal. That’s your motivation. PERIOD. Because if you don’t do that…if you give this administration four more years…I’ve already said enough on that, right? It’s never going back…the country…this version of America is finished and I got no real idea as to how different it’s gonna be. We won’t recognize it – I know that. I was talking to a fella last week about the Senate…plans to take the Senate. Republicans. As a stop-gap, right? You know what he told me? Looked me straight in the eye and said – “It won’t matter. He has pushed executive authority so far already…it won’t matter. Give him a couple more Supreme Court nominees…it won’t matter. If he gets the White House again…IT WON’T MATTER.”
