Hi Mr. Shea,

My name is Cady Crosby, I’m Catholic and homeschooled. We met at your book table at the last NWCFEC, and my mom was the one who presented on communication and rights of passage. I really love your blog, Catholic and Enjoying It. It always has great commentary on current events and our Catholic Faith.

I believe that Mrs. Katherine Eames has told you a little bit about an organization that my brother and I have started called Titanic Heroes. (www.TitanicHeroes.com) It is an organization that is committed to bringing back to this generation the real legacy of the RMS Titanic -that of women and children first, self-sacrifice, and giving.

It is a timely and inspiring message, especially because the hundredth anniversary of the Titanic’s sinking is on April 14-15, 2012. We have molded this message into an hour-long presentation, part-drama, part-motivational message, appropriate for youth groups, parishes, school assemblies and many other groups. We feel that this is an important, historical message that this generation needs to hear.

An example of some of the stories we tell is Father Thomas Byles, a priest onboard the Titanic. This valiant priest of God brought his vocation to culmination in the night and early morning hours of April 14 & 15, 1912. Father Byles prayed the Rosary with those left onboard the ship, and his brother William Byles remembered Father Byles in this way:
“Can you see all those poor people saying the Rosary, and Our Lady at the other end of the Rosary, pulling some of them into lifeboats and others to hear the happy command, “Enter thou into the joy of the Lord!” You may remember that my mom mentioned Father Byles at the beginning and end of her presentation about rights of passage.

I have written a children’s book about Father Byles called A Titanic Hero: Thomas Byles. Sophia Institute Press was going to publish the book, but at the last minute a freeze was put on all fiction publication and the book had to be dropped. However, I have recorded the manuscript onto CD and am currently selling them to fundraise self-publishing costs.

I was wondering if you would be willing to promote Titanic Heroes on your blog. It would be great publicity, as your audience is a big one that our family would love to target. Mrs. Bonnie Landry did so on her site a couple of weeks ago.

I really think that your writing even a small blurb about us on Catholic and Enjoying it would be extremely beneficial. It would be even more timely if you could perhaps do so tomorrow or the next few days, when James Cameron will re-release his blockbuster, with a focus on illicit romance and special effects. It would be a good way to offset the negativity that will be swallowed up by the media.

Thank you so much for your work of evangelization! I look forward to your response.

Peace and good,

Cady Crosby

How can I say no to a budding writer and daughter of God with that kind of fierce determination and pluck?

Dearest minions, toadies, suckups and sycophants! I bid you check out Cady’s efforts and support her drive to become a writer!
