And, of course, the Great Sign of Hope is Happening Today August 15, 2012

The Feast of the Assumption is the real sign of the completion of the gospel mystery. It’s one thing to say Christ is ascended into heaven. But it’s another thing to say that all that drama has actually done the job it was supposed to do and brought somebody who is *not* God into heaven. The Assumption of Mary is the sign that all that stuff Jesus went through actually works and saves people and brings them to the happiness we have been born longing for. Mary is the great sign of our own destiny: the promise that if you remain faithful, you will wind up exactly where she is, in eternal glory and happiness. Compared with that Hope, all the little squabbles about politics and so forth are vanishingly small beer. Wany hope? Look at the Assumption of Mary. That’s you someday.
