God sends us stupid bishops… October 29, 2014

…so we will have somebody to pray for. Bishops like Archbishop Lewis Zeigler of Monrovia, Liberia, who helpfully tells his suffering flock that Ebola is divine punishment for homosexuality.

I believe that if God is going to punish us all, it will be about how we treat one another.

You’re scapegoating the Holy Spirit for dumb bishops?

    • chezami

Right. Yes. Totally. Your keen insight has pegged my true purpose.

That was so last Spring: http://www.liberianobserver.com/religion/archbishop-condemns-homosexuality.
    .
May God deliver Rt. Rev. Lewis Zeigler, Archbishop of the Catholic Church of Liberia, from the clutches of politically-correct rumor-mongers. May he be given the strength to bring those in his see the grace and peace of Our Lord. Amen.

Well, as long as blamed ebola on gays *last spring* that makes it fine.

      • SteveP

        Slow
down Mark: you slide easily from “the act of homosexuality” to “the gays”. Did he not also reference political
        corruption and lack of love-of-neighbor?

Mark, his link says that the bishop said that God is allowing several problems, including ebola, because of several sins, including homosexuality.

He may be incorrect and God is not bringing His judgement in such a particular way, but it is unjust to misrepresent what the bishop said.
