Interesting Piece on Francis and Pius XII

“On an even more sensitive front, Francis has tipped his hand with a strong defense of the debated record of Pope Pius XII…”–good to see an article on this subject get that right, along with encouraging words about the strengthening of Jewish-Catholic relations–Francis has made at least a half a dozen statements praising Pius XII, and not just on his wartime record; but also his theology and liturgical views–and the Vatican archivists I’ve spoken to are eager to get the remaining archives out, precisely because they believe they will enhance the Holy See’s record, and decisively answer wayward speculation.
