One Practical Way to Heed the Pope’s Call to be *More* Prolife 2015-09-29T07:52:16-07:00

…is to ask the state of Georgia to spare the life of Kelly Gissendaner.  Time is of the essence since she is slated for execution today:

The most important thing you can do is call the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles RIGHT NOW and tell them to show mercy. Here’s the number: (404) 656-4661 (press “0” then “4”).

Then, email them by clicking here, post a message to their Facebook here, and click here to send a Tweet.

We’ve made tremendous headway — wonderful press telling Kelly’s story of redemption, ads in major local papers, more petition signatures, direct action, and people speaking up on social media [1]. But we need our Groundswell community to join in for this final push.

Today, members of the Georgia Board of Pardons and Paroles are watching videos from the Struggle Sisters, women who were in prison with Kelly and who were transformed by her words. They’re considering the testimony of Kelly’s three children who are pleading for her life. And they are weighing whether or not Kelly’s sentence was proportional, since the person who committed the murder will be eligible for parole in 8 years [2].

While they are deliberating, they need to hear from you! Call the board now at (404) 656-4661 (press “0” then “4”).

We have no idea when we will hear from the board, but when we do, we’ll update you one more time to let you know what is next. Time is running out. Please act in whatever way you can TODAY to help save Kelly’s life TODAY.

In solidarity,

The Reverend Kimberly S. Jackson, Letitia M. Campbell, and Rev. Dr. Melissa Browning
